The EXCEL FOUNDATION was formed in 2014 to provide much-needed funding for free health and child services in the Upstate of South Carolina. These services maintain and support long-term wellness and benefit the most vulnerable in our communities. Excel Rehab & Sports Ride for Wellness was created to support the foundation’s mission of promoting wellness through connecting with the community. This annual cycling event takes its riders through Seneca, South Carolina, and features 20, 40, and 60-mile routes, allowing the cyclists to choose a distance that they are most comfortable with! These routes will wind through some of the most scenic and beautiful roads in Oconee County. Participants have an opportunity to promote and increase their commitment to wellness while supporting one another along the way! At the end of the event, riders will be able to enjoy a drink and some food courtesy of Keowee Brewing and Blue Marble Deli.
Community health service providers strive to work toward a model of care that focuses on prevention to maintain wellness. They form strong bonds with the local people and families within their area. While working to form a good connection with local health care and social services providers as well. Building these relationships enables them to significantly affect community wellness by uncovering regional health risks, educating residents on health behaviors, or setting up community health resources to close gaps in care. Comprehensively addressing patients’ well-being enables them to reduce ailments that may soon resurface.
About half of Americans suffer from chronic health conditions. Many do not get proper care due to socioeconomic factors beyond their control. From transportation limitations to rising health care costs, our communities’ lower-income residents are at risk. Being able to consistently provide them with quality healthcare resources is becoming increasingly important. Given our area’s rising healthcare and wellness service needs, we believe that positively affecting the accessibility and quality of these services is vital to the quality-of-life families will enjoy for generations.
As a result of continued support through the years, we have raised $18,000 through sponsorships and participation donations that directly benefit the local area. We invite you to join our community partners and us on the lifelong journey toward building wellness in our area.
